Summer temperatures reach intolerable levels in Arizona, quickly creating dangerous conditions for anyone without relief from the heat. At SCP, we work closely with the Via Linda Senior Center, helping Scottsdale homebound seniors find ways to stay cool during the summer.
Beat the Heat in Scottsdale
As part of our mission to the residents of Scottsdale that need assistance, along with the Via Linda Senior Center, we have created the Beat the Heat program. Beat the Heat is another way we are helping Scottsdale homebound seniors that are low income and are isolated, living alone and disabled.
Ensuring our seniors in need are taken care of when temperatures rise prevents heat-related illnesses or death and allows our counselors to evaluate the areas and demand of services in our community.
We begin collecting Beat the Heat donations in April and distribution of the senior summer relief packages begins in June. Beat the Heat care packages consist of summer heat relief items that will benefit Scottsdale homebound seniors. These donated items can vary from bottled water to mini fans to keep cool.
